The Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 is the ultimate law for the regulation of the food products formulation and enforcement of the food safety standards in the country. In India, for FSSAI License Process for Food Business regulated and administered by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is the apex authority in India. FSSAI functions under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Maintaining the food safety guidelines is imperative for the country as it is important to ensure providing safe and wholesome food to the consumers.

All food products label must contain FSSAI Registration where: name, brand or description of the food contained in the package; ingredients, in descending order according to their composition by weight or volume; name and address of the manufacturer or importer; net weight or measure of the content volume; month and year of manufacture; expiration date, which, for products containing aspartame, should not exceed 3 years from the date of packaging; Date of Expiry; vegetarian / non-vegetarian product logo; License number and logo of the FSSAI.
